My story
I owe my love for baking to my mom. Growing up, our kitchen was always filled with the aroma of freshly baked muffins, pies, tea biscuits, cakes and butter tarts. Growing up on a dairy farm meant there was full-fat milk and cream meant to create rich and flavourful goodies. Some of my mom's favourite recipes have stuck with me to this day.
I started with chocolate chip cookies, perfecting them until there was the right amount of chewiness. Then for my twin nieces’ 16th birthday, I set out to create my first fondant-covered cake - a sculpted purse cake. It may not have been the most creative design or have had the sharpest edges, but it sparked my passion to making cakes as a creative outlet and heck, maybe I could even make some money if I was good enough. It was upon these humble beginnings that City Cakes was founded. Whether it's cake, cupcakes, or cake pops you desire, let City Cakes’ treats be the focal point of your next event.

Baked with fresh ingredients
The art of cake baking and decorating is a delicate dance of chemistry and creativity, where the freshness of ingredients plays a pivotal role. Fresh ingredients are the soul of the cake, infusing each layer with vibrant flavors that cannot be replicated by their aged counterparts. Eggs, when fresh, emulsify to create a stable structure, ensuring a cake that's moist and tender. Flour, at its peak, provides the foundation, lending strength and volume for the cake to rise with grace. Sugar, in its purest form, sweetens and preserves the integrity of the crumb, while butter, fresh from the churn, imparts a richness that is the hallmark of a truly exquisite cake. In decoration, fresh fruits and creams offer a burst of natural beauty and taste, elevating the cake from a mere dessert to a centerpiece that captivates both the palate and the eye. Thus, fresh ingredients are not just components; they are the essence that breathes life into the artistry of cake making.
